ForMOVE @ LASA annual conference May 26-29, 2021
News from May 19, 2021
ForMOVE researchers Ximena Alba and Stephanie Schütze will be participating at this year's Latin American Studies Association (LASA) annual congress. Ximena Alba is the organizer of a workshop session focussing on migration and violence in Mexico and Stephanie Schütze will be the workshop's chair. Originally, this workshop session was planned for 2020's congress but had to be canceled due to the pandemic.
We are very happy to finally be able discuss the interrelation of various forms of violence and transit migration through migrants with collegues from Mexico and the United States. The participants of the workshop are María Dolores París Pombo (El Colegio de la Frontera Norte), Bruno Miranda (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México), Xóchitl Bada (University of Illinois, Chicago), Martha Luz Rojas-Wiesner (El Colegio de la Frontera Sur) and Liliana Rivera-Sánchez (El Colegio de México).
The international congress takes place virtually from the 26th to the 29th of May 2021. The workshop "Migración y violencia en México" (sequence number: 938 // track code: MIG) is scheduled for saturday, 9:00am - 10:45am (EDT, New York) / 3:00pm - 4:45pm (CET, Berlin).
LASA's annual topic "Crisis Global. Desigualdades y Centralidad de la Vida" (englisch: Global Crisis. Inequalities and Centrality of Life) is inspired by the recent Covid-19 pandemic and its far reaching effects on societies in Latin America and all over the world. The entire program can be found here. Registration for the congress is also possible for non LASA memberes.
