The topic of forced migration is globally of enormous relevance. Therefore, understanding and explaining the factors that influence forced migrants' biographical projects and aspirations when making these decisions is central to understanding when migrants decide to return, stay, or move on. Through my stays in Chile and Colombia, I have learned (in this case mainly from migrants coming from Venezuela) how comprehensive the life decision is to leave one's homeland. The gender-sensitive and humanitarian viewpoint which this research projects adopts on the vulnerable issue of migration is a very important perspective, also in scientific research. Moreover, I believe that this project is particularly enriching due to its comparative perspective (Turkey and Jordan as well as Colombia and Mexico).
