Biographical Projects and Violence Experiences of Forced Migrants in the Case of Transit Countries. Prof. Dr. Ludger Pries & Dr. Berna Zülfikar Savci, Ruhr Universität Bochum.

Drawing on empirical data from the ForMOVe-I project, Prof. Dr. Ludger Pries and Dr. Berna Zülfikar Savci analyze the various forms of violence experienced at different stages of forced migration. Through a combination of survey data and biographical interviews, their analysis reveals a longitudinal perspective on the contexts before, during, and after migration. Their findings highlight a persistent and complex interplay of constraints, motivations, precariousness, and vulnerability, with violence and coercion emerging as nearly constant factors throughout the migration journey.
